Cape Town Refugee Centre & Home Affairs Epping
(Goodwood, WC)

Client: Invested Property Fund

Kevo Projects was appointed to create a completely new Home Affairs Service Centre and Refugee Reception Centre in Epping, Cape Town. Within just seven months, we transformed an old, greasy industrial warehouse space into a state-of-the-art, multifunctional facility that now serves thousands of South Africans and refugees daily.

A key innovation was the introduction of our patented CameraBox technology, a compact, integrated photo booth system installed at each service counter. This unique feature eliminated traditional bottlenecks by allowing ID photos to be captured instantly and seamlessly as part of the client interaction process.

Key Deliverables:

  • Facility Transformation: Conversion of a derelict warehouse into a modern public service hub.

  • Branch Layout Optimization: Custom interior layout to support efficient, user-friendly service flow.

  • CameraBox Installation: Integrated CameraBox booths at every workstation for instant ID photo capture.

  • Interior Construction: Complete buildout including drywalling, ceilings, flooring, finishes, and custom-designed furniture.

  • Systems Integration: Structured cabling and IT infrastructure to support both Home Affairs and Refugee Centre operations.

Measurable Impact:

Thanks to Kevo’s end-to-end design and implementation, service delivery speed at the Epping facility increased by over 300%. This model has been hailed as a benchmark of efficiency and functionality and is now being replicated across all Home Affairs branches nationwide.

This project is a testament to Kevo Projects’ ability to conceptualize, construct, and deliver high-impact infrastructure under tight timelines—bringing world-class public service environments to life from the ground up.

Home Affairs, Justice & Labour Departments
(Mitchells Plain, WC)

Client: Public Works

Kevo Project Management has recently spearheaded the transformation of the new Home Affairs, Justice and Labour departments in Mitchells Plain, converting and adding additional buildings to an old clinic into a facility to serve the needs of the community. Read more about our projects to learn more about how we are making a difference in the lives of those around us.

Kevo Projects was contracted to deliver a full-scale Home Affairs facility in Mitchell’s Plain to address one of the most urgent service delivery backlogs in the region. The existing branch could only accommodate 50 people at a time, leading to mass protests and significant public frustration. The pressure from both community and government stakeholders necessitated a bold and fast-tracked solution.

Within months, Kevo built from scratch a modern, solar-powered Home Affairs office capable of housing over 250 clients at a time. The new facility includes our patented CameraBox technology at every service counter—enabling ID photos to be captured instantly as part of the client journey, drastically improving flow and reducing wait times.

Key Deliverables:

  • New Build & Interior Fit-Out: Complete construction and internal installation of a fully equipped service centre.

  • CameraBox Integration: Deployed at every workstation for seamless photo capture.

  • Solar Energy System: Designed and installed a solar power backup system to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

  • Interior Design & Layout: Optimized for capacity, efficiency, and public accessibility.

  • IT & Network Infrastructure: Installed structured cabling and integrated systems for Home Affairs operations.

Measurable Impact:

The Mitchell’s Plain facility now handles five times the capacity of the previous branch and stands as a flagship model of how infrastructure can directly impact community stability and trust in public services.

This build not only resolved long-standing frustrations but also positioned Mitchell’s Plain as one of the most efficient Home Affairs service hubs in the country—setting the tone for future national rollouts.

Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development
(Cape Town, WC)

Client: Public Works

Kevo Projects was commissioned by the Department of Public Works to urgently take over and complete the tenant installation for the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development at the ABSA building, after the initial contractor appointed by the landlord failed to deliver. With the department’s lease at their old premises expiring and mounting pressure from all stakeholders, Kevo was brought in at the start of December 2025.

We immediately mobilized our full team and worked double shifts through the holiday season. Despite the tight timeline, we successfully delivered Phase 1 ahead of schedule, enabling the Deeds Office to relocate in time and begin servicing the public without interruption.

Scope of Work:

Kevo Projects delivered a complete turnkey solution, including:

  • Interior Construction: All drywall partitioning, ceilings, carpets, and interior finishes.

  • Fire Compliance: Full fire services installation to ensure building certification.

  • Aluminium & Glass Fabrication: All glass and aluminium was designed, fabricated, and installed on-site — we brought our factory directly into the building.

  • Custom Furniture & Shopfitting: Design and manufacture of high-quality, bespoke furniture and shopfitting, completed under extreme time pressure in our own facility.

  • Interior Design: Complete interior design and specification of finishes, furniture, fittings, and branding elements.

  • Window Treatments: Supply and installation of custom blinds throughout.

  • IT Infrastructure: Design and installation of a world-class Molex structured cabling system, complete with a 25-year guarantee.

  • Audio & Visual Systems: Full AV layout, infrastructure, and system integration for modern workspace collaboration.

This project showcases Kevo’s unique ability to deliver excellence across every component — from technical infrastructure to aesthetic execution — and to do so under intense pressure with precision and speed. It was an honour to meet the high standards set by this important national department.
